Project: Calypso

Project Calypso is absolute perfection. You can tell from the moment the cigar is in your hand. The roll, wrapper, and cap are stunning. The Figurado shape is pleasing. Its out of the ordinary and a great vitola to smoke.
Cigar was punch cut beautifully. Excellent cold draw, just the right amount of resistance. Hints of cedar and black pepper on cold draw.
Light and burn also were beautiful and flawless. Even burn line for the duration of the smoke. The ash was even and well colored. The ash stacked firm and well - stacking dimes! Nice thick smoke.
Tastes of cedar, baking spices, and black pepper on first 1/3. Black pepper hints on retrohale.
Tastes of cedar, baking spices, cashews, and dark chocolate. Cigar evens out with a slight pepper and caramel touch here and there. Nice natural sweetness to the chosen tobacco.
No touch ups were needed. The cigar was burned down to almost the cap (it was so good!!!).
I very much enjoyed this cigar. I can easily see the Calypso being my daily smoke. I will be needing many more of the Project Calypso!!
The Project Calypso also came with an amazing Honeybee Cigars patch. I have sewn mine onto my hat. Thanks for having such amazing cigars, Bri. I am coming back for yet another order soon!!

Project Calypso was a really enjoyable surprise. It opened with a natural sweetness and a heavier spice on the retrohale that I absolutely loved. Around the halfway point, the spice settled down and the cigar became more subtle and complex, with the sweetness remaining in the background and even a faint but distinct anise note emerging later in the smoke. The burn was excellent, the draw was effortless, and the cigar continued to evolve from beginning to end. I paired it with black coffee, which worked fine, but next time I'm reaching for a good aged rum. If Calypso is a test to see whether this project deserves to move into regular production, my vote is an easy yes. I'd happily keep several of these in my humidor. Excellent cigar.
